Not every dog is built to handle the cold. Small breeds, short-haired dogs, and older dogs often struggle to regulate their body temperature outdoors — which is where a well-fitted jumper or vest comes in.
Which Dogs Need Extra Warmth?
Breeds like Chihuahuas, Italian Greyhounds, and Miniature Pinschers have very little body fat and short coats, making them especially prone to feeling the cold. Puppies and senior dogs are also more sensitive to temperature changes.
Jumper vs. Vest
A jumper covers more of the body and is ideal for particularly cold days, while a vest offers lighter coverage for mild weather or for dogs who don't love the feeling of sleeves. Look for stretchy, breathable fabric that doesn't restrict movement.
Getting the Right Fit
Measure your dog's neck, chest, and length from neck to tail base before choosing a size. A snug (not tight) fit keeps warmth in without bunching or rubbing.
